Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to some of the most common questions we hear about laser tattoo removal. If you have additional questions, consult a licensed practitioner.

How many sessions will I need?
The number of treatments depends on your tattoo’s age, size, ink colors and your skin type. Most people require between 6 and 10 sessions, scheduled 6–8 weeks apart.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Clients often describe the sensation as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Your provider can apply numbing cream and use cooling devices to make you more comfortable.
Is laser tattoo removal safe?
When performed by a licensed professional using appropriate settings, laser tattoo removal is considered safe. Following aftercare instructions reduces the risk of complications. Modern lasers adjust for different skin tones, and scarring is uncommon when aftercare is followed.
Will I have scars after treatment?
Proper technique and aftercare minimize the risk of scarring. It’s normal to experience redness, scabbing or blistering, but these usually heal without leaving permanent marks.
Can I get a new tattoo after removal?
Yes. Once your skin has healed completely (which may take several months), you can get a new tattoo over the treated area. Lightening or removing a tattoo creates a better canvas for a cover‑up.
How should I prepare before my session?
Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning for at least two weeks before treatment, stay hydrated, and shave the area if necessary. Do not apply lotions, makeup or deodorant on the area the day of your session.
How much does it cost?
Pricing varies by provider and depends on the size, complexity and colors of your tattoo, as well as the number of sessions required. Many practices offer consultations to assess your tattoo and provide an estimate. Because tattoo removal is considered a cosmetic procedure, it’s generally not covered by insurance.
